As this image was developing, the words began to form, “If you take them far enough, all paths lead to growth.”
When I was about finished with the drawing, I started to wonder if this is really true. There is also the path of destruction. The weather is so calm right now, and it was beautiful yesterday. The stars were out last night. Everything is perfectly still outside, yet hurricane Irene is on the way. Maybe the verse should be changed to “If you take them far enough, all good paths lead to growth.” Then again, perhaps the original thought was correct, because destruction can lead to growth. Whenever I write something like this, it’s part of my creative process to take it apart and reconstruct it in different ways to see if there’s a better way of capturing the sentiment I’m trying to convey. But that will come later. These exercises are more about allowing the imagination the freedom to grow. That is the path I’m on now, and I intend to take it far enough.

Tim,
I’ve been meaning to leave a comment here for a while but we’re always pressed for time, aren’t we?! I just want to tell you that I’ve been really enjoying your posts — not just the pictures (which are truly inspiring) but the words as well. Today’s post is especially inspiring and made me realize that no matter the path, we have to be CONVINCED that it WILL lead to something positive.
Please keep the posts coming; you’re a true artist.

Hi CeeCee, Thank you for taking the time to comment today! I’m glad you’re enjoying the posts. I used to wonder if I would run out of ideas to draw and write, so it’s been a leap of faith starting this path on this blog. Every morning it’s usually the first thing I do, so I think I at least have the advantage of being fresh when I’m drawing and thinking. Tim

Hi Tim:
I to also have been meaning to leave you a comment….I haven’t missed a beat on your postings and your art…..doesn’t it give you a lot of pleasure to daily journal, even in art form? I write something each day and although I haven’t gotten much done in my studio I have started some projects…and because of you doing this doodle journaling inspired me to keep a project journal of ideas that I want to finish or do. I think it is a great way to get your focus and yet start the day connecting with your creative side….so thank you so much for inspiring to keep YET another journal…lol. Have a great weekend….Trish (Cross My Heart Studio) YES I am still working on building out my site….it is a much bigger task than I thought but I am enjoying the process.

Hi Trish, Thanks so much for letting me know you’ve been following the posts, and they’ve been inspiring you. Journaling every day is a great experience. Every morning, I have no idea what I will write until I start drawing. I always wonder if I will have anything to say, but somehow something seems to come to me. It’s very freeing to just begin drawing without having a preconceived idea in mind. It leads to so many ideas that would otherwise never form in my mind. I hope you’re having a great weekend. I hope the hurricane doesn’t prevent me from performing this daily ritual tomorrow. I wish you the best with your website.
