Blogging, Goals, Music

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted to my blog, but I’m feeling like it’s time to start blogging again. For the last few years I’ve dedicated a lot of my free time to music. I’ve recorded an album, and now I’ve posted my first music video to my Youtube channel. Here it is.

I’ve also just released my first album on Bandcamp. It’s called Way Back to Serenity. My page on Bandcamp is at www.timcoffey.bandcamp.com.

I’m planning to blog with lyrics and commentary for many of my songs as well as videos and some new artwork from time to time. It’s been way too long since I’ve blogged, but I needed to be focused on my work and dedicated in my free time to learning about music and recording. There’s so much to learn and practice, but I’m just at the beginning stage of feeling comfortable with sharing what I’m creating.

Frozen Ground

I had this idea about planting seeds on frozen ground. I seem to have an abundance of scattered thoughts  today. It made me curious, so I researched to see if there are any seeds that can be planted when the ground is frozen. Apparently some types of grass seed can be planted on frozen ground.

Maybe some of these scattered thoughts will grow into something later.

A New Year A Fresh Start

As the new year approaches, I can’t help thinking about those things I’d like to freshen up in life.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could buy “life freshener” in a spray bottle? It’s a challenge to make changes, and this year, I’m finding it a challenge to figure out what needs to be changed. Maybe it comes down to picking one thing and sticking with it – taking one goal and making it the priority for the year. For the past several months, this blog has been the one thing that I’ve tried to stick with every day, making a post no matter what. It’s true that I’ve missed a few days, but for the most part making the blog a priority has been a success. I wonder if it’s possible to add a second priority without affecting the first!

Is it possible for a tornado to be a good thing?

I felt like a tornado this morning, and it led to this idea! I’ve decided to embrace my good tornado. There’s a lot of stuff floating around in my head that needs to get done, but some things are just going to have to keep spinning until the time is right to put them into action. This drawing is about learning to live in the moment in spite of the tornado of responsibilities and possibilities raging in the mind.

Today’s image was begging for color, so I couldn’t resist adding some.

This is my 122nd post, so it has officially been four months since I started blogging. I’ve missed just a few days since day one, and I can hardly believe I made it this far without running out of ideas!

This is a celebration of everyone who’s joined me on this blogging adventure. It’s been fun having so many people along for the ride. Thanks to everyone for stopping by, liking and commenting!

It’s funny how after taking a day away from the blog to spend time socializing, it seems to be a challenge to come up with an idea.

I found myself staring at a blank sheet of paper, thinking about all the work I need to do today. So, I just started in the center, writing what was coming to mind. I added myself with the bullhorn to try to make something out of the text. Then, Finny and Wood were the final touch, and I think they are what made this idea come together.

I made a big blunder on the blog yesterday. I was in such a hurry to get my Finny and Wood drawing uploaded that I mistakenly called Wood Finny! So, I decided to use that mistake as an opportunity to reveal something about the human character in Finny and Wood. It turns out he’s a bit of a scatterbrain.

Just a small announcement today.

For now, I’m mainly tweeting whenever there’s a new post on this blog, and when I’ve added a new video to my Youtube channel. So, it’s one more way to keep track of these updates. Plus, occasionally, I might re-tweet something I find if I think anyone will be interested. If you want to follow me on Twitter, just click the blue Twitter button on the left and sign up!

Where Do Ideas Come From?

Occasionally, people ask me where all my ideas come from.

Sometimes I take an idea from the past. In the case of today’s daily doodle, I literally took the word “idea” from yesterday’s post and allowed it to grow. My ideas usually start with a small seed. Sometimes that seed comes from past work, an experience I’m going through at the moment, or a vision of a creation that I think should exist in the world.
