I think I’ve come up with my New Year’s resolution.
I’m going to try to take a few minutes every day to perform some sort of meditation. I haven’t decided what form – perhaps mindfulness meditation. This will definitely be a challenge for me, because my work schedule is constantly full – and it’s hard for me to pull myself away from work!
I don’t know if I will be taking resolution for the next year because I tend not to keep up with them. Think I’ll try meditation too. Can’t be bad. Sometimes it helps to just stop what we are doing and think only of ourselves just for a few minutes. Love reading your posts every day, I think it’s my time of the day to stop and relax. Happy New Year to you too and have a nice day.
Hi Johanne, That’s so nice to hear about your time of day to stop and relax! Happy New Year to you, too!

Hi Tim!.. In an mixed-media/art journaling group I’m in, I had to choose a word for the coming new year. It’s the first I’ve ever heard of doing so, but it seems like I’m hearing about it more and more, from those who’ve done it before… Anyways, my word for the year is also “PEACE”! While you mention meditation, that is something I’ll be trying myself. I admit I don’t know much about it, and already feel almost silly to try it, for some reason… But a greater sense of inner peace is something I know I’m growing more and more desperate for; and be it with a new meditation cd I just bought and haven’t found TIME to TRY yet, or by more bubble baths, candles, more art work/journaling, or WHATEVER… I really wish most for 2012, a greater sense of inner peace. I’ve HEARD about it, and I WANT it! (0; Wishing us both luck in reaching this goal, or calm state of mindfulness as you say! Best wishes to you for a very Happy New Year!
Hi Tina, “PEACE” is a great word. I wish you peace in the New Year – and I wish you the best with your meditation!

Happy almost New Year Tim! Starting your morning off with a meditation is a great way to start the day. I believe you have already started with your quick sketches and blogs everyday. You enjoy doing this right? And it gives your joy…right? It’s just a different sort of meditation. Throughout the years I’ve practice meditating…which is an ongoing practice…learning to ‘just be’ and not getting upset when your quiet mind starts to wonder through your zillions of “to-do” lists. You have to remember that this is a part of meditating. —When you sit still, focus on your breath…your deep belly breath. This is a great way to get your mind to focus on one thing. And then when your mind starts to wander again gentle focus on your breath. Nice ocean music in the background helps for me. Best to you on this last day of 2011! 😀
Hi Lisa, I enjoy the sketches and blog very much, and I hadn’t thought of doing that as meditation, but I suppose it is one kind of meditation. I think I will try combining the sketches with meditation – I think that’s a great idea – Thanks for that thought!
Tim
Thank you for all the inspiration you have given us. Have a blessed 2012!
Hi Frankie, You’re welcome – it feel great to read words like that – Happy New Year!
Wishing you the Best in 2012!

Happy New Year from Toronto – almost !!!
Meditation is wonderful ….makes us conscious of thought patterns and quiets the soul – I have found so many great ones in the past year – on Youtube – let me know if i can help you find the type that you are looking for . You are right ! There are so many approaches to meditation … Sometimes it seems like there are Too many !
Best To You and Your Loved ones for 2012 ….
Cat
Hi Cat, Thank you so much!
Best to You and Your Family in 2012!
Tim
I think that’s great. I did meditation on and off for years, but during 2011, I ‘studied’ with a wise meditator, and finally developed a practice of meditation. And it’s a beautiful thing. Happy new year!
It’s interesting to hear from so many who are into meditation. Thanks for the encouragement!
Happy New Year!

Great idea. Do it before you get out of bed. Sit up and stay there for 5 min. I have to do my tread mill every morning before tea or food or anything or it just doesn’t get done.
Happy New Year to you! May you have great health and much happiness in the new year.
Hi Linda, I think I might try that meditating before getting up tomorrow – thanks for the suggestion and Happy New Year!

I used to meditate/yoga first thing in the morning and immediately I got home. Found a place in my home and always returned to the very same spot. Didn’t turn on the tv, radio or anything. Cleared my mind of any tasks to be done and focused on my inner core and breathing. I worked wonderfully…. New mentality. Refreshed and awakened. Thanks for helping me to open my closet full of to dos and make them into DO NOW. See ya next 🙂
Hi Jess, Thanks for those thoughts – all good ideas!
Happy New Year!

Good for you! I’ve been practicing mindfulness for over a year now, and it’s sooooooo difficult, at least for me.
Happy New Year!
Hi Fergie, I had tried it a few years ago, but I didn’t make an honest effort, so maybe I can do it for real this time.
Happy New Year!

I love how Finney and Wood are just sitting there staring at you. You think they would have both just crawled up in your lap, all cozy and asleep. TFS
Hi Diana, I was almost going to have them meditating and levitating with me, but then I changed my mind, because I realized they are a cat and a dog, and they are always living in the moment, so they don’t have a need for the human kind of meditation.
