When we’re kids, they ask us in school what we want to be when we grow up. We seem to know instinctively that we’re supposed to answer with a profession.

We’re trained at an early age to define ourselves by our profession. But the metamorphosis is really about becoming who you are. It’s not about sticking a label on yourself and squeezing yourself into an easily definable box. I think it’s just the opposite of that. It’s about exploring, expanding and becoming something undefinable. In my opinion, metamorphosis is about me becoming me, and you becoming you, and caterpillars becoming caterflies.
