I’ve been wanting to draw a monkey for a few days now, but I didn’t know what to do with him until last night.
For me, inspiration is something I don’t have the patience to wait for any longer than a few minutes. If an idea for a piece of art or writing isn’t coming naturally, I just make a decision about where to start, and I force it to happen. It’s that process that gave me the idea for today’s daily doodle.
Great picture; I do the same 🙂
I just can’t wait for inspiration on a daily basis – but there are those times that it comes when you’re least expecting it, too. But, most of the time I am my own monkey in the apple tree.

Made me smile…
Hi Savira, I was hoping to get a comment like that. It made me smile when I was drawing it last night.
Thanks,
Tim
haha…. that’s a funny one today. I like the monkey and your expression.
Hi Allana, I was hoping you would find it funny.

The little monkey in the tree reminds me of a dog who takes something off the table. He knows he shouldn’t do it but the temptation is just too overwhelming…and satisfying!!!
Hi Bonnie, It is satisfying – just like the creative process is satisfying and sometimes a little painful at the same time!

Have you read Twyla Tharp’s The Creative Habit? Great book applicable to everyone who works creatively.
I haven’t read that book, but I’m really curious now. I’m going to have to check it out. Thanks for the suggestion!

Ouch I just got bonked on the head with an apple to. Have a wonderful day.
Hi Jessica, I hope you’re not speaking literally about getting bonked in the head! I hope you had a great day, too!
Tim
Love the concept and idea behind your drawing. Great job!
Thanks for the feedback!

Needed the apple on my head. Starting a new mini album and need all the inspiration I can get. Love your daily pictures. Waiting on the new box canvas and 150th blogger.
Hi Judy, I know I’m so far behind on the box canvas, and I was planning a 200 subscriber giveaway, but I can’t do that until I finish the box canvas. I got a little stuck, but I have an idea how to continue. That’s another apple on my head!

Hi Tim. Love the tree trunk and branches. So true about inspiration too. I loved yesterday’s post also. I liked all the clocks. It reminded me of how my schedule is a bit off this week. I have company so I’m not in my normal routine. It also reminded me we change the time this weekend. Have a wonderful day.
Hi Laurie, Thanks for being so patient on the 150 subscriber prize. I really need to make progress on that. I wish you the best with your company. I hope you had a great day too!

You are welcome Tim. No pressure. 🙂
LOVE this doodle…and your words, too. xo
Hi Jackie, Thanks for letting me know! The feedback helps as I create more.

Tim, this drawing made me giggle…lol I am like you…I just get started and give my mojo a kick start…then, I pick up speed. :> Love seeing your drawings and seeing your train of thought! XOX Carlene :>
Hi Carlene, I’m glad this made you giggle. It’s what I was hoping for!

This is so stinking cute! Remember….the sky is falling!….LOL. Thanks so much for sharing. I needed a giggle. In fact, I think I even got rid of the scowling there for a few minutes. I have permanent wrinkles from scowling all the time, haha.
Hi Diana, My goal is to bring more humor to this blog. I’m glad it made you smile!

The monkey is a nice touch!
