I find the pursuit of dreams more interesting and entertaining than the actual attainment of them.
For example, over three years ago I started writing a novel for kids ages 9 to 12. It took me about three years to complete a finished draft. After showing it to a few editors, they all agreed the idea is original, but I need to keep working on it to make it marketable for retail booksellers. After three years of work, I decided to put that project aside for a while. Gradually, I’m thinking about returning to it. I might take it in a new direction. I’m getting ideas again. That project is more about the pursuit of a dream than it is about attaining a goal. I’ve enjoyed the process of writing that book, and part of me wants to keep it to myself, because finding a publisher would mean allowing someone else to have a great deal of creative power. That’s a difficult thing for me to do with a project that I’ve poured so much of myself into over such a long period of time.
Now, for the progress on the 150 subscribers giveaway project. I mixed chocolate brown with white acrylic to make a light tan and covered the whole Cheerios box panel. Then I mixed colors with white and brown to soften them – blue, brown, raw sienna, green and iridescent gold. I applied the colors with a trowel. I had to be careful not to scrape the surface, because I found the paint will easily scrape off the Cheerios box cover. Then, I troweled on some pure irridescent gold as an accent on top. I also brushed the iridescent gold onto the side of the Wheat Thins box. I stopped here today, because I need all of this paint to dry before I continue.
Can’t wait to see the final result. Love to read all your posts every morning. Thanks.
Hi Johanne, It’s great to hear that – it helps keep me motivated!

Yes, follow those dreams!
I like seeing what you do with your recycled boxes. Always amazing! 🙂
Hi Rita, I really enjoy the recycled boxes. When I started my Youtube channel and this blog, I had no idea what I would come up with. It turns out I really like the recycling ideas.

You know Tim, I’ve never thought of dreams that way before, but you are absolutely right about them. The pursuit is exciting, challenging, mysterious and once it’s all done, it’s almost like a let-down. Kind of like Christmas for me … the big build-up for all of December and then on December 25, it’s all over.
Hi Bonnie, I think it’s all about the journey and discovering what excites you creatively.

Tim, I totally get what you are saying. I find the pursuit for exhilarating than the final accomplishment even though the accomplishment is fulfilling. It’s like finishing a good book. You loved the book but hated it to end and feel sort of a loss at it being over. I just emptied by studio and redesigned the layout. The thinking about what to do and the emptying process was so fun. Putting the furniture in and arranging was fun too. Putting stuff back into the room was not as fun and the finished result is great but I miss the challenge. Anyway, babbling today. lol Love your sketch. Really makes sense to me.
Hi Laurie, It is fulfilling to finish a project. And I have my instant gratification on the blog by doing a quick piece every day. But I like a good long term, epic project too. That book is the most epic piece I’ve ever created, and I’m not sure I’ll be able to completely finish it in this lifetime!
Thanks so much for watching the process!

We certainly need dreams to make the world go round.
Hi Lorraine, That’s so true!

Sorry…pursuit MORE not for. And MY instead of by. I can’t correct the post now. Hit send too soon and didn’t proof. Excitement I guess. lol
Hi Laurie, That’s OK – I was able to read it!

HI Tim: Can you publish your work as an e-book, e.g. Kindle or Kindle for iPad? I’m sure it would be very popular!
Hi Karen, Self publishing could be an option for me in the future. I haven’t given up on the traditional publishing route yet. I want to feel the work is the best I can possibly make it before releasing it into the world, and it would be great to have the support of a traditional publisher – but I might go the self-publishing route if I feel it’s ready and there are no publishers interested. Thanks for the suggestion!

Can’t wait til you can get the book finally published. I was writing poems a few years to put together for a book, but I got side tracked and never went back to it until a few weeks ago. But it just wasn’t the same. Love coming here everyday to see what you have created and I have yet to be disappointed. Great job. I think dreams are good. TFS
Hi Diana, It will be a very long time before the book is published (several years minimum) – I have so much on my plate these days, and very little time to spare for revising the book. But I will keep everyone informed if I make any progress.
