After something devastating happens like 911, it can seem impossible to move on. But time carries us away from that moment, even though in our minds we can feel like we’ve stopped there.
Different cultures look at time in different ways. I believe in American and Western cultures we think of time as moving us forward, but I’ve heard that some cultures tend to see the progression of time as moving upward.
So, I think it comes back to the recurring theme on this blog—it seems to be about growth. The sunflowers in my area in New Hampshire have grown so large and tall that they are bowing their heavy heads.
Today, I’m thinking about looking upward.
Oh I love these, they are very… moving! 🙂 I like to think of things as up and onward. As I tend to fall, so I get up, brush myself off, and move onward to new beginnings. Love the sunflowers, they are one of my favorite flower. I hope that one day when we actually buy a house that I will have some growing in front of my kitchen window. That’s what I think about sometimes when I am hurting. Thanks for sharing. Have a fantastic day!
Hi Rachel,
Thanks for the feedback. That sounds wonderful to have sunflowers growing outside your kitchen window. I hope u’re having a great day!

As I was looking at these, I thought, aww how nice. and then I stepped away for a moment, came back, and then I said, OH COOL! I get that feeling I am looking upward at the flowers. I like that. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Diana, I’m glad you stepped back from the sunflowers. I’m a little out of practice showing exaggerated perspective like that, so I’m glad you noticed it!

Hello Tim,
I notice that the people are moving upward as well as forward. Up is good! Both drawings, to me, provoke the same thought. I like your ideas. Iris, Saved by Grace
Hi Iris, Thanks for posting! I never know what each day will bring when it comes to these sketches, so I’m glad to get a reaction. It’s great to know that the drawings are provoking thought, especially since this blog is turning into something so different from my Youtube channel.
