I just noticed you label these as your daily doodles. That is so cool and I can only hope all the hours I spend sketching with pencil with some day bring about the bravery to do something like this in pen!
Hi Tim;
All I can say is wow…never looked at daily art journaling that way….but I do believe your words here…FANSTATIC>>>>>I started my art journal…..and of course I can’t draw well…but i have some sketched out ideas….i think adding words to the sketches at the time of drawing them will help out a lot….thanks for the inspiration once again…!!!
Hi Lorraine, Yes, Halloween will be here soon, and I was thinking the owl and the tree was very halloween-ish. It wasn’t intentional. When I do these drawings, I just never know what’s going to come out, and there’s no going back to edit.
Tim, wisdom comes in many shapes and forms, you’re doing great, and yes, perhaps these dailies will lead to some wisdom, an epiphany, or some really cool drawings and ideas for your creative soul. I’m really glad I joined your blog, it inspires me to take my aching hands and give drawing another go. I’m not great by any means, but who knows, maybe with time, I’ll get better. You’ve inspired me once again. Thank you for all that you do and contribute, it is truly appreciated.
Hi Rachel, I’m so glad this blog is inspiring you. Confidence improves with practice – it’s a process, and your drawings will tell a story over time if you keep it up.
I sure hope so! *she says as she has been reading and journaling all year working on unconditional forgiveness* I think that just showing up every day works wonders. 🙂
I like owls, this is so cute. I like how you have been able to post whatever comes to mind. Funny…I have been staring at my craft table for days waiting for an idea to come, maybe I should just grab something and go for it. I think I just need to do anything and not necessarily worry about completing the project at hand. MAYBE…by doing anything will bring the inspiration I need to finish what I started. LOL. TFS.
Hi Diana, I hear you. Personally, I think waiting for ideas is the same as waiting for trains. You have to actually be at the train station to catch them. In the case of artwork, the train station is your work space.
Funny you should mention that. I had joined an online journaling group called Raw Art Journaling, taught by the author Quinn McDonald. We were to draw and journal about our Gremlin. Mine was the eraser! Because I can never really get ahead using a pencil and eraser. I will definitely try your pen idea. Thank you.

Hi Diana, That’s so true about erasers. Erasers are about correcting mistakes, but in the exercises I’ve been doing, there are no mistakes. It’s very freeing to use a pen.
Hello Tim, I forgot to mention in my comment yesterday that I like your cat. Today’s drawing brought this to mind, (here I go into the “deep end” again ; ) Perhaps your cat is a “type” of pilgrim (Pilgrim’s Progress) and along the way, in your creative journey, he meets different characters. Today there is the “wise” owl. This thought is probably profoundly silly and has absolutely nothing to do with your exercise. I’m over thinking again ; ) I just love to look at other people’s artwork and try to imagine their creative process. There has to be a rhyme and reason, even if the reason is ” just because” . Beautifully and simply just because you gave yourself permission to draw whatever comes to mind. No “over thinking”, just “be” ing. I can only imagine how your journey will inspire others. Again, a powerful gift. Iris, Saved by Grace
Hi Iris, Actually, it’s funny it had occurred to me that the cat might meet the owl, but I think I’ll be taking the cat in a totally different direction. However, that is an interesting idea you proposed. I hope this journey inspires others. There’s no telling where it will go.
Love your owl doodle. I really enjoy your daily exercise of your creative soul. Wisdom is never ending and all we need to do is slow down, listen, observe and practice. Your blog is really comming along so wonderfully and I always look forward to the next day’s post. Hope you can make more owls and wings. They are so awesome.
Hugs, Sharon R

Hi Dana, You should try a pen sometime. You know there’s no going back, so you can just keep moving forward without the temptation of erasing.

Hi Trish, I’m glad these posts are giving you ideas. The drawing can inspire the words and vice versa.

One thing I do not think that you are lacking is WISDOM, Tim!

Hi Bonnie, Thank you – but the more I know the less I understand! I think that’s a quote from a Don Henley song, and it came to mind.
