Yesterday’s post received a comment from Art (a.k.a. zendictive). He said, “Due to recent cutbacks, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.”
Art’s comment inspired today’s firefly post. I was tempted to give a commentary about things that are going on in the world, and how I believe people need to be looking inward for answers rather than outward, but I don’t want this blog to become political or preachy. I think if it were to enter that territory, it could start turning people’s lights out rather than on. This blog is about inspiring people to turn on their own inner light.

This is my favorite post and drawing so far! I LOVE it! Recently I have been dealing with a lot of negative comments from family members regarding my crafts and the things I like. I’ve been trying really hard to stay positive and “find my own light”. That’s why this one really speaks to me. Thanks!
Hi Kerri, I understand how difficult it can be to receive criticism about things you like and things you do in your spare time. I’ve been there many times, and I guess the best advice I can give is don’t give up on the things you like! People just have to learn that even if they don’t have all of the same interests, you have a right to enjoy the things you enjoy. I don’t know your situation, but I know sometimes the disagreement can come down to money. There are ways of doing those things while saving money if that’s an issue. I’ve been putting projects on my Youtube channel that turn everyday items you would normally throw away into art supplies that are free, so there is always a way to get around obstacles if you put your mind to it. Thanks for letting me know this post is meaningful to you.

My folks always taught us “you can’t be a beacon if your light don’t shine!” I guess some of this ole-time wisdom is needed in today’s world!
Hi Cindy, That’s so true – and ole-time wisdom is so needed.

This reminds me of one of my all time favorite songs hearing as a child “This little light of mine.” I still love that song to this day. It is a constant reminder that I should always let my light shine, no matter what. It may get dim at times, but it still shines. Thanks for this post. It really has touched my heart.
Hi Rachel, So glad this touched you. I’m going to have to look up that song. I’m not sure if I’ve heard it.

Hi Art, I’m glad you like this post – I was hoping you’d be OK with my using your comment for inspiration.

Are you kidding (~_*) I am honored
I certainly didn’t expect to be such inspiration…
wait…
Doesn’t expecting the unexpected
make the unexpected become the expected? (grin)
bows humble~
I don’t think spreading positive thoughts is preachy at all. I enjoy them!
:)

SWEET! Lots of work there, pat yourself on the back. I would give you a hug, but since I can’t, here is a virtual one {{{Tim}}}}. That song “This little light of mine” is stuck in my head now. LOL. Sometimes I am asked if I even have any lights on in my head. I just tell them…that is why I have flashlights & nitelights everywhere.
- Even my phone is set to lite up at a push of a button, too bad external lite dones’t stay on any longer than 30 seconds. Maybe they should make a phone with a falshlight on the end. TFS!
